


The Hardin County Historical Society exists to study, preserve, and disseminate information about the history of Hardin County.

Our most recent achievement was revitalizing the John Young Brown sign on the 600th block of West Dixie Avenue.

I am very excited to share with you the progress we and our partner, the Hardin County History Museum have made toward the debut of the 2026 HERITAGE DAY at Freeman Lake Park! Put this date, October 10th, on your calendar. You don’t want to miss this. Ancestral Trails Historical Society, the Hardin County Dulcimer Club, the Summit School House volunteers, and the Daughters of the American Revolution, members, are all committed to this great day of celebration for the community. You might recognize some of the folks walking around from the Charles W. Logsdon Walking tour.
We have reached out to others and are waiting for their confirmation. These groups and individuals will bring crafts, music and stories to this Heritage Day. You can also find more information and leave messages on the website; hardincountyhistoricalsocietyky.org
We still need volunteers for the summer opening of the Lincoln Heritage Cabin, first Saturday/Sunday, June-September. The hours are 1 - 4pm both days. I will have a signup sheet at the April quarterly meeting.
Daniel Boone will visit us as we dine on great food from the 16th Caterer. Dinner begins at 6:30pm,and the meeting will begin at 7:15pm. RSVP for meal $20 per person, $25 at the door. AND DON’T FORGET TO PAY YOUR DUES $25.

The Hardin County Historical Society, in partnership with Kentucky Chautauqua, presents “Loretta Lynn: Mem’ries of a Coal Miner’s Daughter” on Monday, July 27th, 7:15 PM, during the quarterly meeting at the Brown-Pusey House.
Experience the story of Loretta Lynn—from her humble beginnings in Butcher Holler to becoming the Queen of Country Music. Performed by Lexington artist Lisa Woods, this program brings her powerful journey and music to life.
